Our action is based on the timeless foundations of European law, as expressed in Roman legal maxims — foundations that are today deliberately disregarded by those entrusted with upholding them.

What is happening?

The European Commission has unlawfully altered key elements of the proposed regulation (COM/2023/411 final), not only removing essential safety, risk assessment, and labeling requirements, but also redefining the legally binding definition of GMOs/NGTs (Genetically Modified Organisms obtained by new genomic techniques – NGT) and creating new patent regimes benefiting corporate stakeholders. These changes were made without further consultation, in violation of transparency rules and citizens’ participation rights guaranteed under EU law.

Why is this important?

We cannot accept the blatant violation of legal principles. Creations obtained by New Genomic Techniques (NGTs), so called new GMOs, pose identical risks to those associated with classic (transgenic) GMOs, which have been under strict regulatory control in the EU for decades. The threats arise from distorted and forced genetic transformation, leading to unpredictable consequences caused by transformation\’s induced mutations and environmental instability. These inherent risks are being hidden behind radical and manipulated adjustments embedded within the proposed regulation itself, misleading the public about the nature and potential harm of genetic engineering.

We demand a full legal inquiry into the legislative abuses of the NGT regulation, immediate suspension of its adoption, and restoration of full compliance with EU law, citizens\’ rights, and scientific concerns.

Your support amplifies our legal action and demonstrates unified civic resistance against unlawful deregulation. Together, we safeguard democratic integrity, environmental safety, and public health in the EU.

COMMENT. Since the beginning of our activities in the Association, we have never accepted funding from any funds, from companies, from state institutions or from other entities, receiving only voluntary donations from private individuals. We do, however, have to bear costs over which we have no control. We work exclusively ‘for free’ and thus guarantee independence in our fight against GMOs.

If you or your organisation would like to support our work financially, please transfer any amount to the Association’s account (writing in the title: donation to NGT Complaint):
